A steel cutting ceremony was held for the floating dock project to be built by North Star Shipyard for nuclear icebreakers for Atomflot, a ship operator operating as a branch of Rosatom in Russia. Officials from Atomflot, the Russian Maritime Register (RMRS), the Bureau of Marine Engineering (MEB) and North Star Shipyard attended the steel cutting ceremony.
The pool, which is planned to be completed by Kuzey Star Shipyard in 29 months, will be stationed at the Port of Murmansk. The floating dock, which is planned to serve with a carrying capacity of approximately 30 thousand tons and a crew of 30 people, will accompany icebreakers that carry out crude hydrocarbon transportation in Arctic conditions throughout the year.
According to the agreement, the floating dock, which will have a lifting capacity of 30 thousand tons, will be 220 meters long and 48 meters wide. The dock, which will have a length of at least 200 meters and a pontoon height of 6 meters along the skid deck, will be capable of collecting diesel fuel and drinking water stocks, wastewater and domestic water, and 30 people will be able to work without setting foot on land for 7 days at the same time.
