Kuzey Star Shipyard has signed an agreement with Ulusoy Denizcilik for the installation of EGCS/Scrubber and BWTS systems for a series of 4 consecutive Ro-Ro Cargo ships. The project includes the installation of two "hybrid" and two "open loop" type EGCS/Scrubber systems, as well as the installation of 4 BWTS systems from the Wartsila brand. Kuzey Star Shipyard will be responsible for the design and installation of the systems.
As part of the project, Kuzey Star Shipyard will undertake the turnkey installation of two "hybrid" and 2 "open loop" type EGCS/Scrubber systems from the Danish brand ME Production, as well as 4 BWTS systems from the Wartsila brand. Additionally, an agreement has been made for the establishment of a "GRE Pipe Workshop" with an experienced overseas company for the production of special pipes used in the scrubber system, including the supply of pipes.
EGCS (Exhaust Gas Cleaning System), also known as Scrubber, is a cleaning system that removes sulfur oxides from the exhaust gases of the ship's engine and boiler exhaust gases. BWTS (Ballast Water Treatment System) is a system designed to remove and eliminate biological organisms (zooplankton, algae, bacteria) from ballast water.
