The approval from the Ministry has been granted to Kuzey Star Shipyard

The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization has granted approval for Kuzey Star Maritime to make additions of a "floating pool," "slipway," and "landfill area" at the Tuzla shipyard. The Project Presentation File (PPF) submitted to the ministry by Kuzey Star Shipyard Maritime Industry and Trade Inc., located at Evliya Çelebi Mahallesi Tersaneler Caddesi, No. 14, 28 Parcel, 4649 Plot in Tuzla district of Istanbul, has been reviewed and evaluated.

In accordance with Article 17 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulation, the project for the addition of a floating pool, slipway, and landfill area has been deemed "Not Subject to Environmental Impact Assessment" by the Provincial Directorate.

WHAT WILL BE DONE?

With this approval, Kuzey Star Maritime plans to enlarge Slipway 1 from the existing three slips at the Tuzla shipyard. The dimensions of Slipway 1 are expected to increase from 150 m x 30 m to 220 m x 33 m. Additionally, a new floating pool, designated as Floating Pool 2 with dimensions of 217.5 m x 43 m, will replace Floating Pool 1 located in front of Slipway 2, which is currently sized at 195.65 m x 39.6 m.

Furthermore, a new floating pool, measuring 320 m x 80 m, will be situated in place of the removed Floating Pool 2 in front of Slipway 3. A landfill will be constructed within the designated boundaries of the zoning plan towards the sea, covering a total area of 1,745 m².
