Kuzey Star Shipyard to Build Floating Port for Russian Atomflot

It has been announced that Turkey's Kuzey Star Shipyard has won the tender to construct a floating port for Russia's Atomflot's nuclear icebreaker ships. According to a report by the Russian newspaper Kommersant, based on sources close to the matter, Turkey's Kuzey Star Shipyard won the tender to construct a floating port for Russia's Atomflot's nuclear icebreaker ships. Sources speaking to Kommersant stated that Russian shipyards did not submit bids for the tender because there are currently no available Russian shipyards capable of quickly constructing a floating port over 200 meters.

TO BE COMPLETED IN 29 MONTHS

The floating port, which will be 220 meters long, 48 meters wide, and have an approximate load capacity of 30 tons, is planned to be completed 29 months after the agreement is signed. At the end of 2018, Kuzey Star Shipyard began constructing two LNG-powered Ro-Ro ships on order from Rosmorport.
